A dynamic new addition to MacEwan University’s City Centre Campus, Allard Hall – formerly the Centre for Arts and Culture – is a consolidated, functional and sustainable new home for the University’s Faculty of Fine Arts and Communication. Located on a major thoroughfare at the western edge of downtown Edmonton, Allard Hall is an elegant entrance landmark for both the University campus and the city.

The building houses galleries, stages, exhibition space, interactive teaching lab, fine art installation lab, proscenium theatre, black box theatre, fly tower, photo and video studio, recording studios, rehearsal studios, recital hall, audio lab, drawing, painting and sculpture studios, technology-enhanced classrooms, wardrobe lab, construction, welding, painting and fabrication shops. With state-of-the-art instructional facilities, the design emphasizes Allard Hall’s identity as a hub for converging ideas and social interaction. Informal learning, performance, and gathering spaces are playfully woven into two main atria, which showcases a spectrum of student, staff and visitor activities. Natural daylight penetrates these vibrant cores, enlivening them with changing light qualities throughout the day.
