Randall School Contemporary Art Museum Washington, DC

Info

Strategically located within a short walk from the U.S. Capitol building, the Randall School redevelopment is a 500,000 sf project that will inject new life into an abandoned historic school building in Southwest Washington. The complex will include approximately 440,000 sf of residential uses arranged in an accessible courtyard behind the historic landmark buildings. The mass of these buildings  is broken down into a series of stacked, offset building blocks. Townhouses will line the base of these buildings both within and outside the courtyard. The central 1906 historic school building will be supplemented by a similarly sized new structure that together will house a new contemporary art museum containing a variety of exhibition and social spaces that will encourage dialogue and viewing of art.   The two flanking historic buildings will be repurposed to restaurants and other culinary endeavors.
