SFU moves ahead with Surrey Campus Expansion

Bing Thom Architects are proud to be the architects for Simon Fraser University’s new Energy Systems and Environmental Engineering building, part of Simon Fraser University’s  Surrey campus expansion.  Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Christy Clark were at the SFU Surrey Campus on Tuesday to make the announcement on behalf of the federal and provincial governments of the $126-million investment for this new building. The governments will provide a combined $90 million in funding while the remainder will come from a combination of SFU and private donors.

The new Energy Systems and Environmental Engineering building will be located at University Drive and 102 Avenue, across from SFU’s Surrey award winning campus. Designed by Bing Thom Architects, the Central City project earned the International MIPIM Special Jury Prize for best new development in the world, and became the catalyst for Surrey’s now thriving City Centre. Bing Thom would be proud today.
